Industry standard 1-3/8" smooth diameter input shaft with 1/2" shear bolt hole and retaining ring groove and 1.57" diameter 12 tapered spline output shaft allow fitment to most light, standard and medium duty rotary cutters.
1:1.47 Ratio for use on 5' and larger diameter rotary cutters
Each gearbox features high speed ball bearing units and heat-treated gears and shafts to ensure long life. Four bolt mounting matches industry standards. Each gearbox includes blade carrier mounting nut and cotter pin. Gearboxes are shipped dry and require 16 ounces of 90W or 85w140 gearlube or equivalent.

Applications
1. Rotary Mowers This is arguably the most common application. Rotary mowers, which use horizontally rotating blades, heavily rely on gearboxes. Rotary Cutters / Bush Hogs: These heavy-duty, tractor-mounted mowers are used for clearing dense brush, tall grass, and light woody material in agricultural fields, pastures, and roadside maintenance. The gearbox is built robustly to handle significant shock loads as the blades encounter tough vegetation. Finish Mowers: Used for achieving a finer, more manicured cut on lawns, sports fields, golf courses, and pastures. These often have multiple blade spindles, each driven by a gearbox (or a central gearbox distributing power via belts to multiple spindles), ensuring consistent blade speed for an even cut. 2. Flail Mowers Flail mowers use numerous small, freely swinging "flails" or blades attached to a horizontal rotating shaft. Agricultural and Commercial Flail Mowers: These are used for mulching grass, crop residue, and light brush. A gearbox is essential to drive the heavy flail rotor at the high RPMs required to create an effective shredding action. 3. Reel Mowers While many modern reel mowers use direct drives or simple belt systems for their cutting reels, some larger, commercial-grade reel mowers, particularly those with powered ground drive or for very wide cuts, might incorporate gearboxes for precise speed control of the reel or drive wheels. 4. Self-Propelled Walk-Behind Mowers Many higher-end or commercial walk-behind mowers offer self-propelled functionality, where the engine's power drives the wheels. Transmission/Gearbox for Wheel Drive: A small gearbox acts as a transmission, allowing the operator to select different ground speeds, making it easier to maneuver the mower without manual pushing.
